How to Choose a Racking Company in the UAE: 10 Checks Before You Buy
Racking is not a small purchase. A warehouse that gets the wrong system, the wrong height or a poor installation pays for it every day: wasted space, slow picking, damaged stock and, in the worst case, a rack collapse. The company you choose matters as much as the steel.
This guide explains how to choose a racking company in the UAE, what to ask before you sign, and the warning signs that tell you to walk away. It is written by our projects team in Sharjah from what we see on real warehouse jobs in Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman and across the UAE.
What Does a Good Racking Company Actually Do?
A good racking company does more than deliver uprights and beams. It should:
- Visit your warehouse and measure the clear height, columns, doors and floor
- Ask what you store: pallet size, pallet weight, cartons, long items or loose parts
- Ask how you handle stock: forklift type, reach truck, hand pallet truck or by hand
- Propose a layout with aisle widths, number of bays and levels
- State the load per beam level and per bay in writing
- Supply, install, anchor and level the racks, and fit safety pins and load signs
- Be reachable after the job for extra bays, changes and damage repair
If a supplier only asks "how many racks do you want?" and sends a price, you are buying steel, not a storage solution.
10 Checks Before You Choose a Racking Company in the UAE
1. Do they visit the site before quoting?
A price without a site visit is a guess. Clear height, sprinkler pipes, columns and floor condition all change the design. Most serious suppliers in Dubai and Sharjah visit free of charge.
2. Do they ask about your pallets and loads?
The right beam and upright depend on pallet weight and size. A company that does not ask cannot size the racks correctly.
3. Is the load capacity written in the quotation?
The quotation should show the safe load per beam level and per bay. If it does not, ask. Load signs should be fixed on the racks after installation.
4. Do they install, or only supply?
Installation is where many problems start: racks that are not plumb, missing anchors, missing safety pins. Choose a company with its own installation team and ask who will be on site.
5. Can they show real projects?
Ask for photos, videos or case studies of warehouses like yours. Real projects show real experience. You can see ours on our projects page, for example the 110-bay pallet racking job for a logistics warehouse in Jebel Ali.
6. Do they offer both new and used racks?
Good used racking can cut the cost of a project a lot. A company that sells both can give you an honest choice instead of pushing one option. Read our guide on used vs new pallet racking in the UAE.
7. Do they explain the system choice?
Pallet racking, multi tier racking, mezzanine floors and shelving each fit different stock. Ask why they chose a system for you. Our pallet racking, multi tier racking and warehouse mezzanine floor pages explain where each one fits.
8. Is the delivery and installation time realistic?
Ask for a start date and how many days the installation will take, and whether your warehouse can keep working during the job.
9. Is the company easy to reach?
Check that the company has a real office address, a working phone and WhatsApp, and answers quickly. You will need them again for extra bays or repairs.
10. Is the price clear?
A clear quotation lists each part (uprights, beams, panels, accessories), installation and delivery. The cheapest quote is not always the best one if parts, anchors or installation are missing.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do I choose a racking company in Dubai or Sharjah?
Choose a company that visits your site, asks about your pallets and loads, writes the load capacity in the quotation, installs with its own team and can show real projects.
Should I buy new or used racking?
Both can work. Good used racks cost less and can be installed quickly; new racks give you any size you want. A supplier that sells both can advise honestly.
Does a racking company in the UAE also install the racks?
Many do, but not all. Ask before you order. Correct installation, anchoring and safety pins are as important as the racks themselves.
How long does racking installation take?
It depends on the size of the job. Many warehouse projects are installed in days, not weeks, once the layout is confirmed and the material is ready.
